Overview

This practical workshop supports managers to take a fair, transparent and pragmatic approach to issues of conduct and discipline whilst ensuring that this is undertaken in accordance with the organisation's Conduct and Discipline Procedures – and why this is so important.

It takes participants through all aspects of Conduct and Discipline – including allegations, the investigation, whether or not to suspend, the key role of employee representatives, Hearings and Appeals, and uses real case studies to ensure learning is easily related to the day to day work of participants

What you'll learn

  • Develop the confidence to deal with issues of conduct and discipline,
  • Understand the importance of dealing with issues as soon as they arise – and not leaving them to develop further or fester,
  • Understand the actions they must take in accordance with the organisational Policy / Procedure – and why this is important.
  • Be clear on the difference between misconduct and gross misconduct and the different sanctions that can apply, Clarity about the importance of a fair investigation to ensure natural justice for all parties – and the key role that employee representatives play in this process,
  • Understand what happens if the process gets to a Hearing, and the roles of each of the parties;
  • Be aware of the possible outcomes of a Hearing including sanctions…and the Appeal process
  • Know where to go to for support/ help/ sounding board,
