Overview

Change agents have the job of acting as translators of high level plans for change to ensure they are practical on the ground and gain the commitment of their teams. You haven't necessarily been part of the decision-making process, but you have to sell the change to others in a way that convinces them. You also have to be the one to make sure that initial teething problems get resolved with goodwill and common sense. Feeling confident in this change agent role can help reduce the ‘labour pains' of change for everyone.

What you'll learn

  • Why planning changes can be difficult and what it feels like being on the receiving end
  • John Kotter's tips for a successful organisational change
  • How to ask the right questions at the outset of a change initiative
  • The importance of communication, communication, communication
  • How to introduce changes successfully to your team with a six step team briefing
  • The phases of adjustment to change and why frustration is a good sign!
  • Who are the innovators, the early adopters and the laggards
  • Which three words will enable most people to accept a change
  • The 7 Step problem solving  tool to solve implementation problems- how to ask the right questions
  • A practical tool to involve your colleagues in ideas for solutions
  • Why success stories are important

Who is it for?

This course is for anyone at any level of management who is new to managing people through organisational change and/or is responsible for implementing a significant change with a team or department. You may have been the instigator of the change or you may be implementing a change that a more senior team has designed.

Anyone who knows their next organisational change is going to be a challenge and wants to brush up the people side of their change management skills to ensure that it goes as smoothly as possible.
