Overview

Time management courses often fail because they don't tackle the underlying issue of time management - that breaking unconscious behavioural habits is very hard. Most people change their behaviour for a few weeks but within a matter of months are back to where they started. This course will help you to change your bad time management habits and replace them with new effective habits that stick.  You will be provided with a range of tools to help you manage your time simply and effectively.

Sessions include:

  • How habits are formed and how to change them
  • Your time management preferences and how they affect you
  • What is effectiveness and what is efficiency?
  • Techniques for becoming more effective
  • How to deal with unexpected events that occur and how to say ‘no' to some ‘urgent' requests
  • Techniques for becoming more efficient – time planning and priorisation
  • Minimising distractions and lost time
  • Tracking your activities and use of time
  • Overcoming procrastination
  • Making new habits stick

What you'll learn

The workshop is a highly practical one. You will be analyzing how you use your time and learning new techniques for becoming more effective and more efficient. There will be opportunities to learn from others and get feedback and to address your own issues.

What you will learn

By the end of the day you will be able to:

  • Recognize your own bad time management habits
  • Change bad habits, replacing them with new effective habits
  • Understand your preference for managing time and how this affects your daily life
  • Identify new techniques for becoming more effective
  • Identify new techniques for being more efficient
  • Determine when and how to say “no” effectively

      Who is it for?

      • Those that are battling with taking on more responsibilities, but struggling to stay on top of the workload
      • You are busy and don't seem to have enough hours in the day.
      • You know you have bad time management habits but find them hard to break.
      • Your work/life balance is out of kilter
      • You are stressed because the amount you have to do can be overwhelming

Here's what our delegates are saying about this event…

Very useful and practical. I've come away with some insights into what is really important and a practical approach that I feel confident I can do every day. Mark was clear and made the day fun and interesting. Also loved meeting the other participants and hearing about how different and similar our challenges are.

      Director

Good and punchy. Opened my eyes to different ways of working. Great examples bringing theory into practice.

      Operations Trainer

It was good to unpick the barriers with Mark's support. I found the focus on time management habits and preferences really useful.

Director of Foundation Learning, Community College

A clearly laid out course that has highlighted useful techniques but also shown that I am partly on my way already in relation to time management. Great course leader approachable ad pleasant with nice use of examples along with attendee participation. "Rocks and peas" very useful!
